This year Earthdance moved to the Solano County Fairgrounds to be closer to Bay area fans. The Lotus Temple Stage was one of the more intimate settings and hosted workshops and spoken word during the day, live music in the evening and all night Kirtan chanting till dawn. Well that was the plan anyway. Many of the “mellow” performances turned into rocking dance parties. The stage was basically in operation from mid moring till the sun came up the next day. This was one long grueling schedule!
Something we did not expect was that the big stage had to shut down at 11:00PM due to noise restrictions. Since we were in doors at the Lotus Sanctuary Stage we did not have to stop. Sunday night when virtually every other stage was shut down a massive crowd descended upon the Lotus Sanctuary. The dancers would not let Jami Janover stop playing. More and more guest artists showed up and joined him on stage and the festival was extended until after sunrise! Truly the heartbeat of Earthdance carried on in fine tradition.
