Mt. Shasta’s annual Fourth of July celebration is always a big hit with residents and locals alike.  The fun run and parade attract over 4,000 participants and the downtown area is packed with celebrants.  This year’s highlights included live music from noon until Five on the 5th and 6th on the main stage on Castle Street.

Knight and Day, winners from the Siskiyou Singer / Songwriters festival,  gave an upbeat ukelele / rap performance with an upbeat tempo an message that drew a lot of folks in.  High School age band Chapter II amazed everyone with their tight instrumentation and great renditions of  hit songs from Foster the People, Maroon 5, and other current pop material.  These guys were instant heroes with the kids and adults alike.  Double Chief closed the show with a rockin’ set of reggae influenced originals and surprised everyone with a Led Zeppelin cover.
