The Fort Jones Community Center in the bucolic Scott Valley hosted a benefit to raise money for 28 year old local Gina Giacomelli’s fight against breast cancer.  The packed house of enthusiastic supporters were treated to a evening of music and dancing that kept the wood floors in the stately old venue bouncing.

Johnny Callahan and other members of Sundown Poachers came together to resurrect their past incarnation as Slap Shoe Fly, a favorite for years with a strong local following.  No one was sure what to expect with these guys as their “Folka-Tripa-Chronic”  repertoire includes everything from front porch pickin’ to back porch trippin’.

Their live performance  did not disappoint as the crowd would not let them leave the stage.  Good thing the event was in-doors and away from very many neighbors as they came back for 3 encores and played waaaaay past the supposed 10 PM curfew.
