SlapShoeFly and MandiRae at Shasta Base Camp
Johnny Callahan and his band mates from SlapShoeFly teamed up with Shasta Base Camp to bring us a great evening of live music on the Shasta Base Camp stage. The local Etna band brought out their considerable fan base for a warm evening of song and spirits.
A pleasant surprise was the inclusion of two acts the SlapShoeFly brought in from a previously connection in Nashville. MandiRae and her band West Over Water brought the crowd up close to the stage for dancing to their upbeat folk/country/rock sort of sound. MandiRae belted out great originals with her smooth husky voice and even did a wild cover of the Talking Head’s “Psycho Killer”.
The SlapShoeFly closed out the evening with a loooong set of their original music that only ended after the police showed up for the second time. Hey – the whole downtown can hear that stage and we need to be careful going too late down there guys!
